I don’t know about you but everytime I chat with my friends, I see how monotonous my life has gotten, I’ve become so relaxed in my day to day and it’s so boring. I do the same old month in and month out.
When I came across this video on YouTube, I knew it was something I needed to look into and add a heavy dose of into my life. Wrinkles are near me with all the grumpiness I’ve been on and I don’t want that and I’m sure you dear reader is looking for a way to inject some fun into your life as well.

What is Whimsy?
Whimsy according to Collins Dictionary “is behaviour which is unusual, playful, and unpredictable, rather than having any serious reason or purpose behind it.”
It’s adding a little spark to life when we can fall into routines and habits that leave us drained and unhappy.
Why is it important to add whimsy to our lives
I like to see whimsy as adding doses of fun to our life, but here are some reasons why it’s important to add whimsy to our lives
Stress relief: Whimsy pulls us out of that serious, problem-solving headspace and reminds us to play. Play, as we know, has proven to reduce stress and boost creativity.
Creative fuel: Whimsical thinking is like giving your imagination vitamins. It helps you connect dots, see things differently, and unlock new ideas in the process
Finding Joy in the ordinary: Life can feel like a to-do list. Whimsy lets you find magic in small things, like drawing a smiley face on your mirror with your favourite lipstick, naming your plants, trying a new makeup look, or wearing that dress you’ve been saving for a special occasion, or blasting your favourite music out loud. Suddenly, chores feel lighter and your day less stressful.
Essentially whimsy is like oxygen, small and healthy playful doses of it keep your inner child alive while your adult self handles business.

How to add whimsy to your daily routine
Now that we know what Whimsy is and the importance of adding it to our day, here are some ideas to get you started.
Wear something playful – Funky socks, an enamel pin with a quirky phrase, or even lipstick in a shade you’ve never tried. A tiny rebellion against “normal.”
1. Leave little surprises:A doodle in your journal margin, a sticky note with a random compliment to yourself on the mirror, or even hiding a gummy bear in your bag as a “future you” treat.
2. Soundtrack your moments:Play your favourite songs while doing laundry, while you cook. These things make ordinary tasks feel like adventures.
3. Change perspective: Sit under the table for a few minutes, lie on the floor and look at the ceiling, or watch clouds like you did as a kid.
4. Tiny rituals: Stir your coffee three times “for luck,” make a wish when you open a new book, or name your houseplants.
5. Play with words : Send a text in pirate speak, write your grocery list as a poem, or greet yourself in the mirror with “Ah, there’s the main character!”
6. Follow a spark :If you feel like drawing stars on your notebook, lighting a candle at 2 p.m or dancing in your kitchen for one song do it.
The goal is not to overthink anything but to have fun while doing chores or things you don’t like
